Originally made and worn by the Bagobo-Tagabawa chieftain as a headdress or headpiece, the tangkulo scarf has been adapted and used by women as a scarf to adorn any and all outfits. It adds character, beauty and elegance to the overall ensemble of a woman.
Each piece is handbeaded and unique. A tangkulo is lovingly and carefully handbeaded and each one can take as much as 2 weeks to be done, depending on the intricacy of the design.
The popularity of the tangkulo has been increasing in the past few months and in recent years not only because of its beauty but also of the growing appreciation of the Filipinos of local products and the awareness to support local communities.
